I'm not the only one who was exhausted and needed a nap; my electronic toys were, too. Looks like all those wacky plug adapters i picked up at fred meyer ten minutes before they closed thursday night are going to pay off.

I'm stretched out in a corner booth in the hotel bar - a little too early for my room to be ready, so i'm waiting downstairs. The neighborhood is bustling with people, sights, experiences and photo ops, but i'm too exhausted to feel adventerous right now. I've been daydreaming - and nearly night-dreaming, as i struggle to stay awake - about a nap on that plush hotel bed since 11 stops ago on the Piccadilly line and four blocks ago of carrying my suitcase through crowded streets, and i'm not going to be swayed from my goal by streetside tshirt vendors and afternoon bar specials. For now i'll drink my gin and lemonade - they don't have sprite, but it's actually quite good with their lemon soda water - and wait for my BLT and then, in an hour or so, the sweet release of peaceful slumber, be it ever so brief.

The fortune cookie in my chinese food at lunch predicts I'll have a great time in London. Not that it'll be a vacation, but there’s a couple days in there that are vacation-y, and any break from real life is a vacation at this point, even if I'll be at work most of the time.

Last stop before the freeway, headed back to Seattle after a great, relaxing and all-too-short weekend at home with Mom, Dad and our extended family. In a world full of broken homes and nations at war we're really very lucky to have weekends like this at all.

We lucked out with a great day to ride the mountain trails, and then came home and feasted very well. Afterwards, we retired to the bonfire.
