I've trolled past a couple funny/interesting/blogworthy things today, but nothing I felt inspired enough to log in and post about. That is, until Autoblog pointed me to a story about the hottest new motor home - yes, motor home - just unveiled in Germany by Volkner Mobil.
The nice folks at Volkner are already pioneers in RV design and specialize in giant rolling living rooms geared to, well, gearheads and their entourage. That monster with the full-size vehicle crane is a mere 45 feet long, and probably a breeze to navigate over a mountain pass, or through downtown Frankfurt at noon. But when you're living this large, you don't care about traffic patterns or silly weight restrictions! You're ensconced in suede and marble, lounging in your massaging alacantra captains chair and enjoying yesterday’s LeMans highlights on the in-wall plasma, the scotch in your crystal schale swaying gently with the rhythm of the autobahn.
As if life in a Volkner wasn't already wundervoll, this year’s latest “Performance" edition improves on an already sound foundation. More luxury, more convenience, and more garage! Yup, the retractable undercarriage garage now accommodates a Mercedes SLK or similarly low-slung day cruiser without sacrificing the king-size bedroom or the onboard bowling alley (kidding - that’s extra). No more pretending to enjoy driving a Smart car because you're limited by the size of your portable garage!
I think you can see where this is going: I want it! I want it! I want it! My Z would totally fit in that slick drawer/garage, and my collection of smarmy tshirts would totally fit in the cedar-lined, mirrored double closet! It even has cupholders (unlike most German cars). I'm sold. Save me a bratwurst!
