Long weekends are the best,
especially when they're Bumbershoot weekend. I got up at noon today - that never hurts! Yesterday i caught some great bands, check out the pix. Highlight of the
day was Kinky, a rock/club band from Mexico that put on a great show. Go buy their CD at Amazon, they rock. Also had a great sunday afternoon with Libby downtown shopping for books and better careers. Good luck, Lib! And up in the photo gallery are pix of the Mariners game with some peeps on wednesday. We lost, but who really cares what the score is from the beer garden? ;)

The strange little lego freddie-looking
alien guy on top of my monitor is staring at me today. Normally i'd stare back, but i'm really tired right now and i just don't think i'd win. Here’s a funny story for you. Last nite when i got home i noticed there is condensation inside my right light bulb, probably a result of my changing all the bulbs this week and cleaning the engine bay in preparation for selling it (the car, not just the engine bay). So i took the bulb out, along with the rubber seal around it, and set them on top of a nearby fuse box, so the bulb housing could air out last nite. This morning, because i'm stupid, i got in the car and headed for work. About 6 blocks from home i remembered the carefully-balanced parts under the hood, and pulled over. Of course, the bulb was totally gone. At least the rubber seal was still there. I poked around in the splash guards and whatnot, but no bulb. Closed the hood and drove two more blocks before i decided it would be a good idea to grab the rubber seal out of there before it, too, fell thru the cracks. Again, reference my stupidity. Pull over, open hood, grab rubber seal, back in car… people on sidewalk rather curious. Got home, of course bulb is not in the street in front of my house. I had a few spares (at least i didn't have to go buy one!) and after testing a couple found one that worked. Assembled and ready… oh, wait… rubber seal is still sitting in the cupholder. Okay, re-assembled and ready. Head back to work. Two blocks from home, shiny metal thing catches the sunlight at an intersection. Like a mad person i jump out of my car to rescue it and… it’s an empty pack of dentyne. No, just kidding, it’s the bulb, and no one’s driven over it yet. But i felt pretty weird picking up shiny garbage in the street with cars behind me, it might as well have been a pack of gum. So moral of the story is… if you take your car apart and then go to bed, put a post-it on the dash first so you don't drive off in a disassembled car in the morning. There is now a pack of post-its in my car.
At least it’s friday, so i only have a few more hours of being behind the wheel or around sharp objects where i risk injuring myself at the hands of my own stupidity. This weekend is Bumbershoot and i have tickets for two days, saturday and monday. There’s several bands i want to see saturday, but i couldn't get anyone else to commit to going, so i just bought the ticket anyway and i'm gonna go regardless. They're only 15 bucks, for a full 16-hour day of concerts on a half-dozen different stages. Not exactly a bank-breaker, don't know what people’s excuse is. But i'm gonna go see Macy Gray and Kinky and REM, and if no one else wants to, well, they can fall through the splash guards too for all i care…

Oh, scary of scaries… i put for sale signs in the windows of the Maxima today. And the autotrader ad went up sunday, seattle times spot runs this weekend. A huge step, it’s really freaky to think about not owning a car for a while, and also to sell a car i really like and that’s a known quantity to branch out into the vast unknown-ness of used cars. Hopefully this will all work out well, tho, and i'll be driving a sweet 300zx by next month. Eeek. Wish me luck! You can check out the ad here. If somebody wants to buy it, i'll make you a good friends-and-family deal. ;)

Thanx Kimmy for making us go! Steph and i had a random fun time on the eighties harbor cruise - enjoyed the show of sequins, polka dots and jean jackets, danced a bit, marveled at the downtown skyline from our watery vantage - and managed to avoid being trampled by the ballroom couple or the gaggle of bachelorettes high on blow. Tomorrow Kim and I are going on the lake at 8am to catch some good waterskiing weather if anyone’s interested… call me before 2am or after 7. ;)
And yes, the caffeine is working…a frappuccino for breakfast, another for lunch, and then a sensible dinner (two mt dews with teriyaki) and i'm feeling much better about everything… except maybe that ucler. ;)

Payday but i've already spent it, nice day to be outside but i wasted it away in rooms with no windows. Kim and everyone spent the afternoon on the boat (how do all these people have friday’s off?) and i was all set to join them, had the few small things i had to finish at work not turned into a few large things, and had micro$oft not written a lot of really really bad software in the last 5 years. An injured toe from cleaning the basement last weekend had me limping all week; it was almost feeling better thursday until i whacked it on some furniture in the dark, so the wincing and hobbling will continue into the weekend. Haven't accomplished what i needed to this week, haven't done most of the things i'd hoped. Almost everyone has cancelled, bailed out or forgotten this week (except for Steph - thanx for being someone dependable!), feeling a little used and abused as of late. And tired. Think i'm going to indulge in some video games and junk food this evening. Here’s hoping the weekend brings recovery, rehabilitation, and a prolonged caffeine high that breaks me out of this funk.

More photos up for ya, the NHRA drags a couple weekends ago.
My excuse on the air show photos was that Gabe was too busy to help me label them… don't know what my excuse was on these… ;) Anyway, they're up, go enjoy!
Heard from Josh Lambert this weekend, he’s headed to Bologna, Italy for sure, to find a job, buy a moped, and become a good Italian! We're all very excited for him, and i'm sure next time i hear from him he'll have some really cool life where he drives Ferraris or gets daily massages from hot Italian women or something. He’s nervous about it, but i'm not worried. He’s got more charisma than Ghandi - the Italians are gonna love him!
Got all ambitious this weekend and cleaned up a room in the basement so i have a nice gym. Still needs one more coat of paint on the floor, which i'll do tonite, and then i'll have no excuse not to work out. ;) It will be really nice to go down there and exercise without the giant creepy spiders watching me from the shadows…

At long last i've finally posted the pix from the air show at McChord.
I've been waiting on Gabe to assist me in correctly labeling all the aircraft, but he’s been busy or something (work or whatever - shah!) so i got ambitious and did it myself. I probably have them captioned all wrong, with the jets called bombers and the bombers called volkswagons, but they're up for your enjoyment nonetheless. So enjoy!

Work is still a whirlwind this week, sorry i'm been uncommunicative but i just haven't wanted to spend any more time in front of a monitor than necessary… I did manage to get the Max an oil change today (without spilling a drop on the pavement, i'd add) and a big thanx to Kim for cooking enough pasta for two! You rock, Woody!
Sent my resume to a couple of cool-sounding openings at Adobe tonite - stayed up past my bedtime again tweaking the cover letter. My contact there (Vince) apparently no longer works there, as my email to him bounced, so i had to resort to “To Whom It May Concern" - bummer. Hopefully they'll see something worth interviewing me about. Now before you get too excited, i'm not hating JLS or anything, but i have been there a year as of last week, and thot it was time to start taking all those email job alerts i'm still getting seriously. Just when i decided to do that, the long-dormant Adobe alerter surfaced from the depths, bringing with it two lovely, shimmering pearls that both fit my qualifications perfectly. So i spanked out a snazzy cover letter and a resume chock-full of Adobe-friendly buzzwords, we'll see if they take the bait. No harm in trying - what was i gonna do tonite anyway, sleep? Yah right!

First off, Happy birthday Mom! You look great for your age (37) ;)
Secondly, windoze sucks!. Some stupid virus swept the world this week, so this is my second day of no meals, no breaks and overtime trying to keep up with it at work. Not like i really care if a bunch of windoze computers crash anyway… whatever. Of course, Mac and Linux machines are not affected. Huh, big surprise there. Micro$oft’s stock dropped a few points today, too. Boo hoo.

Just a quick note
to keep Clint and Christi happy - the photos of the ZCCW Fun Run are up, go check 'em out. I'm spending my saturday morning listening to jazz, IM-ing with John in Tanzania (don't ask me where he found a computer) and, well, editing those photos so Clint and Christi will stop bugging me about them… ;)
