Today’s theme is photo galleries of weirdo stuff that i found interesting and there’s no guarantee you will. There you go, nice and easy this time; i’m not going to make anyone decipher my spaghetti metaphors or send you to look up any 10-dollar words in order to make some sense of another silly link aggregation, the product of spending too much time surfing and bookmarking and not enough time thinking and writing.
Let’s start with something local. These Matthew and Kate people went for a jog around Lake Union and snapped photos along the way. I’m not condoning their water-slogging, sweat-pouring, health-freak, granola hobby – which confuses me thusly: having tried it once or twice and nearly died on the bloody sidewalk i’m hard pressed to understand why anyone would voluntarily undertake an activity that is so reminiscent of what usually happens in a nightmare situation (horror movies, bear attacks, being caught in a narrow isle during a blue light special). But the pictures are nice, i must admit.
As long as we’re talking about physical health and difficulty breathing, let’s look at some x-ray pictures of kids that have swallowed weird stuff. Apparently the most commonly swallowed items are barrettes, buttons and rocks. That’s right, children are our future, and our children are eating rocks. Makes you want to take up drinking.
Speaking of things i’d have to be drunk to try (but, on the brightside, would be largely impossible for the youth of america to swallow) how about those rollercoasters? Sure, they’re shiny and noisy and you’re allowed – nay, encouraged – to scream bloody murder with no chance of admonishment. But what happens when it’s not just fun and games? What happens when roller coasters … dum dum dum … go bad! I mean seriously, they go bad… like they get all rusted out and rot right into the ground. Well, what happens is they make interesting pictures and probably really interesting captions, as well, but i sure can’t read them.
And for a total gear change, check out a gallery of vintage food advertisements, titled “The Unbearable Sadness of Vegetables” where the captions are blithe and smarmy and (bonus) in english. Enjoy!
